Book Guild – December 2025

A book icon with a photo that shows a fire burning in a stone fireplace in a living room. In Front is a table with two books, a candle, wooden bowls, and blankets. Photo by Clay Banks from Unsplash. A bookmark on the left side of the book, with the Pending Plays logo at the top and "Book Guild" in vertical format below. On the right of the book it says "#16 cosy fireplace" in a cursive, handwritten font.

As the days are getting colder for some and others may be in deep winter already, a warm read would be nice. So:

Theme: cosy fireplace reading

Read and review anything that’s a book – novels, comics, mangas, graphic novels, poem collections, scripts, short stories, zines, et cetera. (Audiobooks count too, of course!).

How to take part

  • Write a review of a/multiple book/s that is/are either really cosy and gives a “fireplace feeling”, or where there’s a scene with a fireplace.
  • Post the review here on Pending Plays. (New here? Check out this page: https://pendingplays.co.uk/register-to-review/)
  • Add the tag BookGuildDecember2025 to your post

Rules

  • Read the book in December (it can be a volume from a series you’re currently reading, but shouldn’t be a re-read)
    • Somewhere in the story is a fireplace.
    • The story is so cosy for you that it gave you a “fireplace feeling”. However that looks like is up to you and therefore subjective.
  • Timeframe to read and review: 1st to 31st December 2025
    • (If you happen to be busy in December, don’t worry about posting your review after the timeframe! We’re not that strict here!)

Make sure to join our Discord and get the Book Guild role, to not miss out on any announcements or other info! You can also add your read book to our reading challenge on StoryGraph.

Looking forward to your reviews!
