The light touch (2021) – Movie Review

Hey everyone, I’m Ayxan Solongo aka Arden Skye aka TimeFliesAway, a shapeshifter traveling through the multiverse.

In this story, I got thrown into a greek rom-com chaos, that was at first difficult and tiring to get into, but weirdly enough, soon became quite poetic.

The type of poetry often reminded me of the Amélie (2001) film, as well as the way Becky and Miranda explore the world and their relationship is set up. Also, the humor feels rather “old-school” or “small town” like.

Becky is the definition of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. She looks and acts like a confident, sexy person, who’s only out to woo someone into her bed. Being very good at pickpocketing also gives her lots of confidence on top. But underneath that, which she hides very successfully and at the same time without trying, she’s quite wise and profound.

Miranda on the other hand, seems like an innocent girl (woman) attracted to the “bad boy” (in this case another woman). She’s both mysterious and an open book. I really liked her appearances. She made the cat-and-mouse-chase so fun but also balanced the slapstick-chaos out by being less slapstick and more realistic, whilst still having that sort of naïve vibe, that probably all genders fantasize about (sometimes or maybe just once).

The way fantasy and reality blurred too, thanks to Becky’s therapy sessions, was also quite interesting. Or maybe it was just my own imagination, being able to perfectly picture her fantasies and tellings? Who knows.

It does turn a bit dark towards the end, though …

On this earth, it’s a normal-length movie titled ‘The light touch’ and was released in 2021. You can watch it for free on Youtube here:
