Jibberjack, Fibberjack – Picture Book Review

The cover of "Jibberjack, Fibberjack: A Made-Up Monster Mystery" by Stefanie Gamarra and Marta Pilosio. A young child with a yellow coat is standing on a board walk at night, examaning footprints with a glass. Behind her is a shadow of a cutesy monster running.

Hey everyone, I’m Ayxan Solongo aka Arden Skye aka TimeFliesAway, a shapeshifter traveling through the multiverse.

In this story, I followed Frida to uncover a mystery in town – about a monster called jibberjack. It tramples over flowers, puts mud on slides and snores very loudly. And then 2 pigs went missing! The mayor initiated new rules. All adults went along with it, but Frida found the situation odd. She didn’t rest until she found the jibberjack!

The blurb promised a little too much. But the message, albeit a bit subtle, stays the same.
I like the questions at the end too.

The illustrations and art style are really wonderful, drawn with love. Everyone was very easy to tell apart with unique shapes. Though I found it strange that they’re all white.

Other than that, I’m sure kids will like it. Questioning adults is always a good thing and asking questions is too! Please encourage your children to ask about the world, even if you may not know the answer.
