On the 8th March, it’s women’s day, so …:
Theme: women being appreciated
Read and review anything that’s a book – novels, comics, mangas, graphic novels, poem collections, scripts, short stories, zines, et cetera. (Audiobooks count too, of course!).
How to take part
- Write a review of a/multiple book/s where women* are being appreciated, respected etc – without it being women’s day in the story.
- Bonus points, if the appreciator isn’t a woman.
- More bonus points, if the woman in question is being appreciated for work where it’s uncommon (in our current’s society) to praise her* for her work (such as: household, child care, care-giving work, etc)
- Post the review here on Pending Plays. (New here? Check out this page: https://pendingplays.co.uk/register-to-review/)
- Add the tag BookGuildMarch2025 to your post
*Woman = anyone identifying as a woman. Cis, trans, etc. She/They can use any pronoun.
Rules
- Read the book in March (it can be a volume from a series you’re currently reading, but shouldn’t be a re-read)
- It cannot be women’s day (or similar holidays) in the story. It should be a ‘random’ act of kindness, not tied to any holiday where the appreciation feels forced.
- Giving flowers/chocolates doesn’t count as appreciation.
- Timeframe to read and review: 1st to 31st March 2025
- (If you happen to be busy in March, don’t worry about posting your review after the timeframe! We’re not that strict here!)
Make sure to join our Discord and get the Book Guild role, to not miss out on any announcements or other info!
Looking forward to your reviews!

Favorite game/film/book: doesn’t have one, cause there are too many good ones!
About: generalist, who likes a bit of everything, but especially has a love for magic, queerness and melancholy. When they’re not arting, they’re probably dreaming/reading through another world, or spending time in nature with their dog.
