NieR: Automata is a bloody great game! What makes it your favourite game?
I think there’s a lot of things that make NieR: Automata (and just NieR in general) great. The weird story with multiple endings/routes, the characters, the music, the depression… the list goes on. My first experience with Automata was actually through the FFXIV raid series they did in Shadowbringers and with just getting a PS5 I really wanted to give it a go, and I absolutely feel in love with it. When I got to THIS. CANNOT. CONTINUE (that’ll make sense if you play it) I knew it was my favourite game. To avoid more spoilers let’s just say I replayed the entire game again immediately after, after I said yes many times to a certain choice.

You say Hollow Knight is your least favourite game but you just need to give it another try. What put you off the first time round?
*sigh* Hollow Knight…. I tried, I honestly did. I guess for context sake I should mention that studied Games Design at university and focused on Video Game Design Psychology in my Masters so I do pick up on things design wise quite a bit.

This was also the time that Bloodstained came out and HK was in the sale so I picked it up on a whim. Thinking back on it, honestly it was just a mix of some design choices that I wasn’t happy about crossed with the idea that I thought it was Metroidvania and not a Souls-like with Metoridvania systems. I do need to give it another try (I got to the City of Tears boss fight as an indication), cause there were some parts I loved about it, mainly the art style and music.

I think now that I know what I’m getting myself into, played multiple Dark Souls game AND enjoying them too, then I think the next time I give HK a go it should hopefully be a fun time

You aren’t talking about the critically acclaimed MORPG Final Fantasy XIV has a free trial, and includes the entirety of A Realm Reborn AND the award-winning Heavensward expansion up to level 60 with no restrictions on playtime? Why is it so bad?
Why yes I am talking about it haha (I honestly never remembered the meme so I’m glad you came through). Ok for the record, HW is good, there’s a reason it’s award-winning, it’s just my least favourite by a long stretch. People give a lot of crap over Stormblood being the worst (the expansion that follows Heavensward) solely because of it’s story.

Actually I agree with this, HW has a much better story than SB in both it’s main story and raids (sorry I skipped the cutscenes for the Warring Traid but I’m sure that’s good too), but to me that’s where it ends.

Area wise it’s by far the worst with half of them being floating islands in a sky box. The fights whilst enjoyable are very much showing their age now. Additional content like Beast Tribe Quests are honestly terrible, looking at you Vanu Vanu in the Sea of Clouds (and yes I did spend my lockdown summer 100% ing them all…)

After the ups and downs of 1.0, and 2.0, their first expansion was pretty decent, but now that we’re 7/8 years (oh god…) from HW being out and nearing 7.0, it just hasn’t held up as strong as the other expansions.

TL;DR – Main story stuff, great, a lot of the rest that’s you’ll be doing again and again in Duty Finder…not so great.

Streaming over on Twitch, what are your favourite interactions you find on Twitch?
You probably expected this answer but honestly the best interactions are just times I get to talk to chat. I started streaming to help improve my social confidence and ability to speak to others and I wouldn’t still be here if it wasn’t for my incredible community who I would honestly consider friends at this point.

Together we ran a successful cult, cause some chaos in the sims and created my favourite character in the form of Steve Celery! in the Dark Souls games.

I think as well that Steve has been really fun to interact with too. At the end of the day, he is a character in a Souls game that we made in a creator who has green hair and loves big weapons. But during the playthrough he began to feel like a part of the stream through some light comic relief.

I also think that slowly building stream lore has been really fun. If you ever wander into my streams and think, “why is there quacking”, “who is this Steve?” or “Why is Chat Screen spelled and referred to as CHATT SCREN”. Just know that yes, there likely was a reason and through interacting with chat a lot of this was possible
