Has The MCU Run It’s Course?

Share this:

The MCU has been going on now for a long time, and with anything that goes on for this long, the quality can take a big dip. Certainly that’s how I feel about the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the newer content it has been releasing. Don’t get me wrong, there were some huge hits and even greater misses (Iron Man 2 anyone) during the early years of the MCU, but recently it’s flipped to more misses than hits.

We’re being fed more content than ever with TV series, Mini-series, Films and shorts, with each one interconnecting and becoming must see viewing if you want to keep in tow with the storyline. However with so much content comes a decline in quality. For me, the recent Secret Invasion series was incredibly disappointing, with an ending that made most other Avengers and Heroes useless in the long run. Could it have wider implications? Absolutely, but that’s where the issues start. If you didn’t happen to watch this series and it’s implications are brought up in another TV series or Movie, then you’ll be lost.

Maybe it’s just me, as I don’t have the time (or patience) to offer endless hours to content like the MCU has been churning out (and really the only thing recently that I think has been superb was Guardians of the Galaxy 3) but I yearn for the days when we’d get one or two films a year, with the end credits scene being a tease for what’s coming. The over-saturation of the Cinematic Universe is here, and with each new series and new movie, my interest in the MCU continues to die a little.
