Cult of the Lamb – Game Review

Share this:

Cult of the Lamb is an occultist action adventure which sees a Lamb entice a cult of cute creatures, willing to worship and die at your command. With base building, boss fights, lots of levels to explore and a great art style, Cult of the Lamb delivers much in a small package.

The art style screams creepy-cosy gaming. Couple with the silly text and amusing animations, this game would be a hit as a pure base builder. There’s plenty to do in order to grow your cult and a large part of the early game is spent providing for your early followers.

The game has multiple difficulty settings for the adventure, broadening the suitable player base. As someone with multiple disabilities, I love games which allow difficulty tailoring! I’ve tried all 3 difficulty settings and they are well balanced to their respective choices, making this an accessible adventure.

The story itself is quite a basic premise which is lifted by the different characters, quirky dialogue and macabre setting. The mushroom people, the fisherman, Midas, the spider who captures wandering future cultists, the bishops, all of them uniquely eccentric. There’s even a mini game, Knucklebones, with a small cast of players you have to find in the wild.

I also love the customisation options the game offers. I created an entire cult of red pandas and decorated my temple with a forest vibe. The followers give you silly quests like making them eat poop or holding a magic mushroom ritual. And what cult is complete without the ability to marry every eligible maiden you encounter? Sure, they may get jealous and murder each other but think of all those cute little indoctrinates you can sire!

The attention to detail on this game makes it my favourite release of 2024. The low price of £7.49 for the base game of CDKeys makes it the best value game of 2024. The constant release of new content, merch and DLC leads me to believe that Cult of the Lamb is here for the longer term too. I cannot wait to see what they think up next!
