Long Cold Winter – Graphic Novel #1 Review
It’s incredibly fast-paced, a bit too much in my opinion. Felt like I was reading 4 novels cramped into one, instead of 4 comic issues.

The story is quite slow-paced, just like the protagonist, Sheena. Sheena is an orphan living in an orphanage where magic-users are sent to train for the war.
Werewolves are the bad guys, crying makes their eyes turn red, flying lessons are brutal, and love turns into a bloodlust … interesting.
I expected a lot, but definitely not this. While I don’t mind dark turns at all, especially such themes in stories that are marketed towards children, this was rather confusing. It had a really great start, however, the ending was disappointing. Not that I need happy endings – given the themes and writing style, I…

The blurb sounded really cool – dark. It does start pretty unhinged and like the beginning of a slowly creeping horror story, but then focuses a bit (too much for my taste) on a hetero romance and I wanted to barf. However, I had a bad feeling about the guy’s trying-too-hard-to-be-good vibe from the beginning…
Loved it! (Especially the Spiderman meme lmao. Or the death reaper situations.) Silent comics are always so cool, and shows again & again how you don’t need many words (or any words) to tell a story! I especially love how diverse and creative each strip is. All kinds of mythological creatures in situations that I…
A new spin, making the protagonist of African descent, a slave and a man of color. Plus, connecting it to the Haitian revolution.
Very sweet! And quite unexpected, especially the ending. Although also nice to have a different kind of happy end for a change. I love that …:
Only a few characters of the whole cast are merfolk/water creatures. (They make more appearances throughout the series and aren’t the center of the plot to be listed under “episodes”.)
