Dino Crisis. Onimusha. Okami. All of these are massive names within Capcoms IPs. Recently these names have been brought up by Capcom themselves, seemingly bringing light to some long thought dead franchises. For it’s 40th Anniversary, Capcom launched Capcom Town, which is currently holding a “Super Elections” vote, which asks the reader 10 questions about various aspects of Capcom. However there’s two questions in particular that really pulled my interest.
The first question that really caught my attention was “Are there any Capcom game series (including spin-off games) that you would like to see get a sequel or new game?”
ERM YES PLEASE. There were 20 options here, and I was asked to choose only 3 (I could have chosen WAY more), and those 20 options were:
- Darkstalkers
- Okami
- Onimusha
- Ace Attorney
- Street Fighter
- Seongoku Basara
- Dino Crisis
- Dead Rising
- Devil May Cry
- Dragon’s Dogma
- Toraware no Paruma
- Vs Capcom
- Resident Evil
- Final Fight
- Breath of Fire
- Ghosts ‘n Gobins
- Monster Hunter
- Lost Planet
- Mega Man
- 1942
Some of these haven’t seen entries in some time either, so their inclusion on here raises some questions! However the next question also really grabbed my attention, that being “Is there a game you would like to see completely remade with the latest technology, including characters design and story direction?”
We’re then given some options, only 9 this time, to choose from. However you could only select one. Now minus the spelling mistake in the title of Onimusha which really stood out to me, this heavily hinted to me that they are really looking in to remastering more IPs. The recent Capcom remakes of the Resident Evil series have been incredible so I’m fully all in on getting more remakes. My vote firmly went on Onimusha because… well it started off life as a Resident Evil title so why wouldn’t I!
There are some huge stand out titles missing from this question though that are always asked for. Where’s Dino Crisis? Where’s Resident Evil? I’m still waiting on the Outbreak and Code: Veronica remakes Capcom!
