Theme: merfolk
Read and review anything that’s a book – novels, comics, mangas, graphic novels, poem collections, scripts, short stories, zines, et cetera. (Audiobooks count too, of course!).
How to take part
- Write a review of a/multiple book/s where merfolk are part of the plot or make an appearance.
- Need inspiration? Check out these tags: merfolk, underwater, ocean, mermaid, merman. Here’s a list with literature specifically: Merfolk & Water Creatures in Literature (the other tags also have books).

- Add the tag BookGuildMay2025 to your post
Rules
- Read the book in May (it can be a volume from a series you’re currently reading, but shouldn’t be a re-read)
- The merfolk’s appearance doesn’t have to be part of the plot or the focus, can be a one-time thing as well.
- Merfolk are any water-related humanoid/human-like (half human, half fish) creatures that don’t exist (or haven’t been spotted ;)) in our world.
- Timeframe to read and review: 1st to 31st May 2025
- (If you happen to be busy in May, don’t worry about posting your review after the timeframe! We’re not that strict here!)
