Tiny Pasture is an idle pet farming sim that runs at the bottom of the desktop screen while you’re doing other tasks. The pets have sprite animations which run around and nap. It looked cute, so I gave it a whirl and I am now addicted. #SendHelp
Look, objectively it’s not a great game. The conspiracy theorist in me is convinced the robot overlords are using Tiny Pasture to destroy my productivity and cause the downfall of society. It’s very simple – pet acquired, makes coins, buy more pets, make more coins, ad infinitum. Did I mention it’s also very addictive?
You can upgrade the pasture to auto-feed, auto-clean and auto-collect the coins. It literally runs itself, so why do I find myself stopping everything to pet these ridiculously cute pixels? Is it even a game at this point? But I need more pets, so I keep it open. Thankfully, it doesn’t make any difference to my PC and everything runs smoothly. This would be a very different review otherwise!
There’s a light you can click to make the game disappear and run in the background for times when you need to focus but still want that sweet, sweet coin collecting to continue. Careful though, I accidentally left it running overnight and awoke to some very sick pets. Whoops!
There’s not much else to say about this game. It is exactly what it purports to be and the perfect example of its genre. Cute idle, not a lot to do, cheap as chips. This time next decade, I’ll still be running it with 10 pastures and 50 cats in each. YOLO?
