Following on from our previous article where Sony had announced that from 2028, there will be no physical form to our video games (boo physical forever!), there is a new campaign brewing.
Started by Does It Play on X, they’re calling for a week of no logins, no purchases and no play sessions from any Sony console.This week long campaign is set to commence from Sunday 23rd August, until Sunday 30th August. The campaign is to try and give Sony a taste of their own medicine after so many studio closures and the latest impact on consumers surrounding physical media.
Personally I’m not sure how much of an impact this will have as Sonys share prices increased after the announcement (because it gives them ultimate market control and more profit from each sale) so I don’t think it will make much of an impact.
There’s also a petition that can be signed, to raise the voice of those worried about an all digital future which you can sign here.
