Cosmic Mart is a big Cosmic… Nothing?

I want to start by saying I don’t like to dump on games, especially indie ones, as I know the time and effort that goes into them, but I can’t help it with this one. I love a roguelite, and usually I’d invest tonnes of time into one; however, after just an hour of this, I never want to go back to it. I’d rather sit and twiddle my thumbs.

This is an Indie game that doesn’t feel like the developer has taken time and love into it. It feels rushed, lacks direction and art wise it lacks anything. I went in to this game with hopes of a simple but fun roguelite, but came away feeling hollow, much like the rooms within this game. The game itself has a very small story, which honestly makes no sense. It’s along the lines of needing to reach your boss on the top floor of the market for reasons?

Then you’re hit with the limits immediately; the room you start in has one npc which you can gain a skill/ability from at a detriment to yourself, which (in my experience) was far worse for you than the ability you’d gain was worth. The enemies were all simple designs with little variety, and that same care went into the rooms. Each room was a rearrangement of the same 5 or so sprites, with recolours making exploration absolutely drag.

Despite having received the key for this game as a review, I don’t think this would be worth any cost. Shovelware really came to mind for me on this.

Whilst this is a short review of my time with the game, I’d honestly say it isn’t worth the time of in depth analysis or gaming. Do remember all opinions are personal views, so I don’t want to say objectively this is the worst game I’ve ever played, but it’s definitely near there.
