Hey everyone, I’m Ayxan Solongo aka Arden Skye aka TimeFliesAway, a shapeshifter traveling through the multiverse.
Lovely human art.
Made by someone who may not be a professional painter, but a storyteller, who believes in uniqueness and individualism. Exactly what I needed and what we need nowadays.
Story-wise, not that good.
The message is essentially, “we don’t like them here because we want to throw a party, so i’ll just invite my mafia family who can murder them.” Uhm??
I get it kinda, asking the insects to go away would be unrealistic, if we see those characters as just the species they are (despite fables being used as visualizing humans based on their adjectives more diversely). But that’s not the only option for a children’s book: it could’ve been a good opportunity to educate about how important those insects are to the ecosystem (ie, their frass keeps algae nutrient).
Also the “no one likes a messy eater” – meh. Seems a little culture-blind and ableist, but also very vague. (And it’s not like napkins help with being less messy – it’s just makes it less dirtier for everything under the napkin).
Overall
Apart from these issues, it is a good book, and I truly wish i could’ve rated it higher.
