I probably won’t watch the animes while they’re airing in fall/autumn 2024 (don’t have the patience to wait one week for another episode (lol), and I’m also busy publishing my novel). But these are at least some I’m looking forward to watch in general.
New to anime? These are the seasons’ starting months:
- Winter: January
- Spring: April
- Summer: July
- Fall/Autumn: October
(The animes fall into the seasons they start airing. They often end in another season. Some may also start a month before, if they have a lot of episodes.)
Sorted by most to less anticipated.
Mahoutsukai ni Narenakatta Onnanoko no Hanashi (A Story of a Girl that was Unable to Become a Mage)
Loving the watercolor art-style!
Also positively reminds me of Little witch academia.
Expected air date: October 5, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Saturdays
Based on: Novel
Dandadan
Aliens and horror, but it’s comedy? Sign me up! XD
Liking the fluid (literally, water-like) animation.
I’ll probably read the manga before.
Expected air date: October 4, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Fridays
Based on: Manga (ongoing)
Fureru. (Touch.)
The artstyle and character designs remind me so much of ‘Free’ and ‘The anthem of the heart’. (Well, the latter is from the same studio.) (Which is not a negative stance, btw. That was just my first thought when watching the trailer.)
A cute concept though. Three childhood best friends move in together. The synopsis is giving me “friendship is magic” vibes, which I’m always here for. I hope it’ll be CBDCT too! 🥰
Expected air date: October 4, 2024
Type: Movie
Based on: –
マーダーミステリー・オブ・ザ・デッド (Murder Mystery of the Dead)
Murder Mystery and Yuri?? Hell yes!!
It’s only unfortunate that it’s CGI. While I’ve seen some good CG animes, this one is rather a low-quality type. The designs seem diverse, but the facial animation looks rather “meh” so far.
Still, gonna watch it for the Yuri.
Expected air date: November 14, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Thursdays
Based on: Video Game
Mecha-Ude (Mechanical Arms)
A sci-fi & action series with a sister-sister theme? Oh yes!
While animes love having sibling issues, it’s usually always brother-sister, and also in the romance genre. I don’t think I’ve found a good sister-sister anime yet. It’s giving me Elsa-Anna (Frozen) vibes, and I love it.
The teaser low-key seems to spoiler the whole story, yet I’m still interested.
Expected air date: October 4, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Fridays
Based on: ONA (from 2018)
Acro trip
What if you become the antagonist of your favorite magical girl?
The concept reminds me of Gushing over magic girls, but, well, without the ecchi (borderline H) aspect. It is an interesting theme though. “How far would your obsession of an idol lead you?”
Expected air date: October 2, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Wednesdays
Based on: Manga (completed)
Ganbatte Ikimasshoi (Give It All)
Apart from same face syndrome due to the CGI animation, it looks nice. (The only distinction being the different eye colors, which are beautiful though.) Good job on the lighting at least.
Haven’t seen an anime centered around a rowing club yet, so want to check it out cause of that as well.
Expected air date: October 25, 2024
Type: Movie
Based on: Novel
Kinokoinu: Mushroom Pup
A depressed author is having a hard time, when suddenly a dog pops out of the ground like a mushroom. Like an angel that came to save him.
Interesting and cute concept with the mushroom dog. I wonder how the person, who came up with that, came up with it. “You know, what if dogs popped out of the ground like a mushroom and only come to people that really need it the most?”
Expected air date: October 3, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Thursdays
Based on: Manga (ongoing)
Maou 2099 (Demon Lord 2099)
Sci-fi is always a good concept. But add fantasy to it? Even more so!
The teaser doesn’t give much info on the story, but I’m interested how demons play a role here. Based on the cover, it seems the beasts are coming from a portal, linked to a fantasy world.
I’m a bit confused on the protagonist’s voice. The voice doesn’t fit the appearance at all. (I do like that you can’t tell their gender, but I’d still like to know their pronouns.)
I might read the manga first.
Expected air date: October 13, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Sundays
Based on: Light Novel (ongoing) & Manga (ongoing)
Kabushikigaisha Magi-Lumière (Magilumiere Magical Girls Inc)
Magical girl is a profession now? I wonder why it took them so long to think of that. Considering how many magical girl animes (set in Japan) there are.
From what I understood: the protagonist (cherry-red haired woman) is looking for a job, and a magical girl company offers her to be a magical girl. Which just happens to be her dream job, cause of another woman she admires, but she seems to be too clumsy and therefore gets an entire team to train and back-up her.
I’ll probably read the manga first.
Expected air date: October 4, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Fridays
Based on: Manga (ongoing)
Uzumaki: Spiral into horror
This looks very… gruesome. (Well, duh.)
But I’m kind of intrigued. I want to know what’s up with the spirals.
And the fact that it’s a black & white animation.
Might also read the manga first.
Expected air date: September 28, 2024
Type: TV (mini series)
Broadcast: ?
Based on: Manga (completed)
Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite (About the Movement of the Earth)
Not that much a fan of religious themes or religion-centered stories, but this looks interesting.
Earth’s orb theory discovered and the church of course denies it first.
While we know now what the truth is, being confronted with no real evidence in times like these, it’s an intriguing character arc to play with. What should I believe? Whom should I believe? And how can I stop believing what I grew up with?
Expected air date: October 5, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Saturdays
Based on: Manga (completed)
Kankin Kuiki Level X (Lockdown Zone: Lv. X)
Another horror anime…
I’m not sure what exactly the story is, apart from a mystery revolving around chat messages and a lockdown, but the art-style is nice. The latter sure makes it stand out from other animes.
Air date: September 7, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Saturdays
Based on: Manga (ongoing)
NegaPosi Angler
Well, a fishing theme is the last thing I should be watching, and I can already tell you I’m not a fan of it.
However, the animation looks really good, I love the overlays and effects used.
I probably won’t watch it anytime soon, but I do wanna check it out someday.
Expected air date: October 3, 2024
Type: TV
Broadcast: Thursdays
Based on: –

Favorite game/film/book: doesn’t have one, cause there are too many good ones!
About: generalist, who likes a bit of everything, but especially has a love for magic, queerness and melancholy. When they’re not arting, they’re probably dreaming/reading through another world, or spending time in nature with their dog.
